Characteristics vs Character
Robert McKee.
Characteristics are observable qualities: how a person looks, his likes and dislikes, his favorite color, the way he likes his toast, and so on.
Character, according to McKee, can be expressed only through the choices a character makes under pressure: the way the character reacts in a moral dilemma, for example, or what he does when a bomb goes off nearby.
